Dentists can apply for the Canada Express Entry program through the targeted Express Entry draws. There is a high demand for dentists in the country, with 13,500 dentist jobs in Canada. The average annual salary for a dentist in Canada is around CAD 140,000. IRCC introduced Express Entry category-based selection draws to help address the country's economic goals. Candidates in the pool with a high rank are selected through the Category-based Express Entry draws under any of the six categories. The list of categories that are eligible for the category-based selection draws are as follows:

  • French-language proficiency
  • Healthcare occupations
  • Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) occupations
  • Trade occupations
  • Transport occupations
  • Agriculture and agri-food occupations

To apply for the Express Entry program, dentists must have a minimum of 6 months of work experience in NOC TEER Code 31110 in the last 3 years.

Steps to Apply for Targeted Express Entry Draw as a Dentist

To be eligible to apply for the targeted Express Entry draws as a dentist, you must have job occupations as a dentist in NOC TEER 31110 under the list of eligible healthcare occupations.

You can follow the below steps to apply for the Express Entry draw as a dentist:

Step 1: Check if you are eligible for the Express Entry program

To be eligible to apply for Canada Express Entry as a dentist, you must have:

  • Six months of continuous work experience as a dentist in the last 3 years
  • Fulfill the requirements for any Federal economic programs like the FSTP, FSWP, and the CEC.

Step 2: Fulfill the language proficiency criteria

You can take the IELTS, CELPIP, TEF, or TCF to prove your language ability. A minimum score of CLB Level 7 for English language proficiency or NCLC Level 7 in French proficiency is required.

Step 3: Express Entry profile creation

As a further step, you must create an official Express Entry profile with complete details of your age, education, work experience, etc. Once created, the profile will be evaluated using the CRS tool.

Step 4: Improve your Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score

You can work on increasing your CRS score in factors such as language proficiency, work experience, education, employment offer, Canadian work experience, provincial nomination, etc. Improving your score can maximize your chances of receiving an ITA.

Step 5: Receive an ITA

You will then be issued an Invitation to apply (ITA) for Canada PR via the Express Entry category-based draws under the Healthcare Occupations category.

Step 6: Submit your PR application

Track the Express Entry targeted draws to see if invitations are being issued for the Healthcare occupations. Once you receive an ITA, you will be given a specific period to submit your application.

Step 7: Wait for the application status

You can track your application status once it is submitted. However, the time taken to process the application may differ based on other conditions.
