Eligibility requirements to work in Canada on a study permit

The following are the eligibility requirements to work on a study permit in Canada:

 

  • Study program must be at least 6 months long
  • Must be a full-time student at a DLI or Designated Learning Institute
  • Must be enrolled in any of these:
  • Post-secondary academic, professional, or vocational training program
  • Secondary-level vocational training program (only in Quebec)
  • Study program must lead to a diploma, degree, or certificate
  • Must have a Social Insurance Number or SIN

 

Post-study work permits in Canada

In Canada, you can also work after completing your education. As a foreign student, you are eligible for the Canada post-graduation work permit after completing your graduation from a designated institution. The length of the study program in Canada depends on the study program. The application fee for Canada PGWP is $255.

 

Required documents for Canada PGWP

The following are the documents which are required to apply for a Canada PGWP:

 

  • A valid passport and a photocopy of it
  • Evidence of completion of education
  • Previous permit details
  • Passport-size photographs taken recently
