Ireland is an excellent country for work, visit or study. Ireland is famous for its greenery, good environmental conditions, sports and high economy. Ireland has now become a destination providing various job opportunities to foreign workers. EU citizens and citizens of Switzerland and the UK do not require a visa to visit Ireland. Ireland issues nine different work visas permitting foreign nationals to visit and work in Ireland. Below is the list of the most common employment permits issued by the Ireland government.

 

Types of Ireland Work Visa

  • Critical Skills Employment Permit (CSEP): This visa is for qualified and skilled professionals who can work in Ireland, where there is a shortage of skills. This visa has two years of validity, and the candidate can apply for a Permanent Employment Visa upon its expiration.
     

 

  • General Employment Permit: This visa type is for all non-EU experienced and skilled citizens wanting to work in different places in Ireland with a skill and labour shortage. This visa is valid for two years, but you can stay and work in Ireland for an unlimited period if you work for the same employer for five years or more.
     

 

  • Dependant/Partner/Spouse Employment Permit: These visas are issued to people who reside in Ireland as a dependent of a general employment permit holder. This visa is also valid for two years, but a dependent, partner or spouse can stay and work in Ireland for an unlimited period if they work for the same employer for five years or more.
     

 

  • Intra-Company Transfer Employment Permit: This visa is for multinational company workers transferred to the company’s Irish branch. This visa has five years of validity and is renewable after that.
     

 

  • Internship Employment Permit: This visa type is issued to foreign full-time students outside of the EU area wanting to intern in Ireland with a minimum wedge matching Ireland’s criteria.

 

Ireland work visa Requirements for Indian citizens

If you want to reside and work in Ireland, you must apply for an Irish work visa. After obtaining a work permit, you must go through the Border Control process and request permission from the immigration officers to enter Ireland.

 

Here is the list of requirements for Indian citizens to apply for an Ireland work visa:
 

  • You must get a job offer from an Ireland-based employer.
  • A job offer letter or employment contract from your Irish employer
  • Provide evidence of your educational qualification.
  • Usually, an IELTS score of 5 is required for an Employment visa.
  • An IELTS score of 6 is required for a Critical Skills Employment visa.
  • You should have a valid passport.
  • Get passport-size photos clicked as per Ireland’s photo criteria.
  • Show proof of sufficient funds to cover living in Ireland.
  • For a General Employment Permit, your annual income should be at least €30,000.
  • Your Critical Skills Employment Permit annual income should be between €30,000 and €80,000.
  • You must maintain employment with your first employer in Ireland for at least 12 months to change your visa type.

 

How to get a work visa in Ireland?

Below are the steps for Indian citizens to apply for an Ireland work visa:

 

Step 1: Apply for your Ireland Work Permit

Step 2: Receive a unique EP reference number to track your application status online.

Step 3: Wait for the application to get approved.

Step 4: Apply for your Ireland Work visa through the AVATS Online Application Facility website.

Step 5: Pay the visa fee online.

Step 6: Book your visa application appointment at VFS Global in India.

Step 7: Attend the appointment.

Step 8: Submit all your documents.

Step 9: Register your biometric details.

Step 10: Receive your acknowledgement number.

Step 11: Wait for the visa application to get approved.

Step 12: Travel to Ireland.
