How to immigrate and work as a teacher in Sweden?

A foreign national who wants to migrate to Sweden as a teacher can apply to an international school or primary school, as Sweden has a shortage of teachers. A qualified teacher can migrate to a Swedish work visa, which a Swedish employer would sponsor.

Teaching is a highly respected job in Sweden, so a skilled professional can secure a role if they are qualified or have a valid teaching license.

Swedish schools are divided into preschool, primary school, and optional high school and most are run by local municipalities. Independent schools that are publically funded and follow guidelines from the Swedish government on education and curriculums are also available.
