The job outlook in Germany for 2022

According to Statista, a data portal, there were 807,016 open job vacancies in Germany in February 2022. It was earlier predicted that in 2022 and later, there will be newly generated job vacancies, besides replacements for those who retire from jobs or quit to shift to other employment. It continues to be the case even now.   The main reason for the skill shortage in Germany happens to be its aging population. So, you can apply to work in Germany in 2022.

Healthcare professionals

It was expected that Germany would need a reasonable number of medical professionals in the future. Applicants with an overseas degree in medicine can migrate to Germany and obtain authorization to carry out practice here. Applicants from both EU and countries outside of it can get a license to start practicing in Germany as long as their degree is considered equivalent to this European country’s medical qualification.  

Engineering professionals

There are a lot of vacancies in the various fields of engineering. The career openings would be applicable to those holding a university degree in one of these areas of Computer science engineering, Structural engineering, Mechanical engineering, Electrical engineering, Automotive engineering, and Telecommunications.   Moreover, there are job opportunities in Mathematics, Information technology, Natural sciences, and Technology (MINT) for individuals having degrees in one of those specializations.  

Non-specialized jobs Germany will offer job opportunities to those in fields that do not require specialized qualifications.  

Prospects for jobs after the Coronavirus pandemic After the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic, the job prospects have, however, changed. Employers are expected to be hired in the fields of finance & business services, construction, and other services. Jobs in the hospitality sector are expected to look up as the pandemic wanes.   During the pandemic, the German government tried its best to mitigate its effect on the labor market. It introduced measures, such as Kurzarbeit, a short-time work program where employers and employees would maintain cordial relations so that the workers would start contributing once businesses pick up.  

During this short-time work program, employees worked for reduced hours as the business activities were dull. Employees, meanwhile, earned only 60 to 70% of their original incomes. This arrangement was feasible for German businesses as they struggled with skilled labor shortages. Employers did not want to risk losing employees they had trained.   German government support was welcomed by the companies in Europe’s largest economy and also by their employees. The average monthly gross salary of workers in 2022 in information technology (IT) is €67,300, in banking, it is about €83,800, in insurance it is €84,400, and in human resources, it is €68,797.
