The UK Government recently announced major changes to the Long Residence route for UK ILR. The Long Residence pathway allows individuals residing in the UK for ten consecutive years or more to apply for an ILR. With an Indefinite Leave to Remain, individuals can live in the country indefinitely and even become eligible for British citizenship. The basic criterion for an ILR is a continuous residency requirement, with 10 years being the stay period for the Long Residence route. In April 2024, the UK enforced a new Appendix Long Residence, with new ILR rules.
