What is the validity of the Express Entry profile?

The validity date of an Express Entry profile is 12 months. The Express Entry system is one of the most streamlined immigration pathways for skilled foreign workers seeking permanent residence in Canada. Individuals interested in migrating to Canada through the Express Entry program must first create an Express Entry profile. The profile creation can be done via the official IRCC portal. The profile, once created, will remain valid for up to a year. Candidates who fail to receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) during these 12 months will have their profile expire. You can then create a new Express Entry profile with the updated credentials, which will come with a validity of 12 months.

What do you do if you do not receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA)?

The validity period of an Express Entry profile is 12 months from the date of creation. Express Entry profiles of candidates who do not receive an Invitation to Apply for Canada PR within this timeframe will automatically expire, and the profile will be removed from the Express Entry system. Once the profile expires and you are notified, you can create a new one with the updated details.  However, it is not recommended to create a new profile while the previous one still exists; if you attempt to do so, you will be required to withdraw the current profile.

 

Here’s how you can withdraw your Express Entry profile:

 

Step 1: Log in to your IRCC account

Step 2: You can go to the “View the applications you submitted” page

Step 3: Select “Withdraw profile”

Step 4: Click on the “Continue” button

 

When a new profile is created, you will be given a new Express Entry profile number and a Job Seeker validation code.
