CELPIP Test results can be used for the purpose of Canadian immigration and professional designation. The Test is specifically designed for the purposes of assessing a test taker’s abilities in the English language in different everyday situations. Computer-delivered and in only one sitting, the CELPIP is generally looked upon as a comparatively simpler English test as it involves easy-to-understand English and vocabulary that is based on everyday situations that most of us might encounter in our daily lives. Situations such as communicating in the workplace, interpreting written materials, understanding the news, and interaction with friends.

The Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program [CELPIP] is one of the most popular English proficiency tests. The Canadian immigration and professional designation uses the CELPIP results. This is a computer-based test that can be attempted in a single sitting. CELPIP is usually known as a simpler English proficiency test when compared to other tests of a similar kind. The skills tested in CELPIP are based on the regular situations that occur in our daily lives. The skills tested include understanding the news, workplace communication, interacting with friends, etc. One can crack the CELPIP examination with proper preparation.
The CELPIP is a general English language proficiency test taken by aspirants applying for Canada PR under the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), Canadian Experience Class (CEC) Start-up Visa Program, Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), and other Regional Nominee Programs. Candidates seeking to get employed in Canada can also go through this test. The Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) approved the CELPIP-General test.
IRCC organizes two types of tests in CELPIP.
CELPIP – General: This is for Canadian permanent residence applications and professional designations. The duration of the test is 3 hours.
CELPIP – General LS: This is for Canadian citizenship applications and professional designation. The duration of the test is 1-hour.
CELPIP stands for Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program, a simple English language test designed for Canadian English. The test mainly contains British, American, and other Canadian accents.
The CELPIP is a general English-speaking test that has no fixed syllabus. Most of the questions are based on real-life instances. The test mainly contains four sections, as other English language tests. The sections include,

The Listening and Reading Tests contain unscored items used for test development. These unscored items can be found anywhere within the Listening and Reading Tests and will have the same format as the scored items. You will not be able to tell scored items from unscored items, so apply your best effort to the entire test.
CELPIP mock tests help in achieving the top score in the first attempt. You can take the CELPIP Mock test for General and the CELPIP Mock test for General LS types from the Y-Axis portal. The CELPIP General test takes 3 hours, and the CELPIP General LS takes about 1 hour. If an aspirant is trying to get Canada PR or citizenship you must qualify for the CELPIP with the best score. Y-Axis helps you to crack the CELPIP with a high score. Take several mock tests and practice tests before appearing for the final attempt.
The CELPIP (Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program) scores range from 1 to 12. The score of each section reading, writing, listening, and speaking test average will be taken to derive the final score. The following table describes the CELPIP scores calibrated at the Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) levels.

To ensure accuracy, multiple evaluators check the performance of every individual test taker. Every person’s speaking evaluation on the CELPIP exam includes a minimum of three categories from independent evaluators who have no knowledge of other category scores; in the same way, the writing exam involves at least four neutral evaluators. Together, all the evaluators provide a detailed presentation of a candidate’s abilities in both spoken and written English language proficiency.
As seen above, the tests are broken down into the following categories:
Speaking: Content/Coherence, Vocabulary, Listening ability, and Task Fulfilment
Writing: Content/Coherence, Vocabulary, Readability, and Task Fulfilment
To receive a physical copy of the official score result, you should pay an additional fee through your CELPIP Account. For every purchase of the CELPIP Official Score Reports, you should pay an extra $20.00 CAD. If you pay extra, priority will be given to your report, and a tracking number will be given.
