IRCC also runs the Super-Visa pathway, which is similar to PGP. The Super-Visa pathway allows Canadian citizens to sponsor their parents and grandparents to come and stay in Canada on an extended visitor visa (to meet family members). Applicants under this program can stay in Canada for five years at a time and later extend their stay for two years. Applicants can also apply for a super-visa if their status expires.
IRCC runs the Super Visa program throughout the year. Super Visa applications have the same service standard as PGP, with IRCC aiming to process all applications within 112 days from receipt.
