By a ‘diaspora’ is implied a group of people that spread from one original country to other countries. Indiaspora – a non-profit US-based community of global Indian diaspora leaders from diverse backgrounds – recognizes public officials of the Indian diaspora that are leaders in the governments of their respective countries. |
As per a UN Report, India had the largest diaspora in 2020.
The 2021 Indiaspora Government Leaders List draws from different government websites and other publicly available resources.
In addition to over 60 of such leaders holding Cabinet positions, the list includes legislators, diplomats, senior civil servants, and heads of central bank from countries “with significant histories of diaspora migration”, such as the US, the UK, the UAE, South Africa, Canada, Australia, and Singapore.
According to Indiaspora Founder MR Rangaswami, “These leaders are building a legacy for future generations, and one that extends beyond our community to all of the constituents and communities that they serve.”
