The province of Ontario in Canada has published its 2020 OINP results.
By OINP here is implied the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program that operates as a part of Canada’s Provincial Nominee Program [PNP].
For 2020, the OINP had an allocation of 7,600 nominations. This allocation was met in November 2020. Initially, the federal government of Canada had set 2020 OINP nomination allocationat 7,350 spaces. Another 250 nominations were later added under the NOC C pilot of the OINP that provides Canada immigration pathways for “in-demand lower-skilled workers with job offers”. Additionally, the federal government of Canada was able to grant Ontario another 450 nomination spaces. These were also fulfilled before the year-end. In total, the OINP nominated 8,054 principal applicants in 2020. When the 7,249 spouses and dependents are also included, as many 15,303 found their way to Ontario in 2020 via the OINP. |
OINP nominees in 2020 came from more than 130 different countries across the world.
Highest number of OINP nominations in 2020 went to applicants from India. Of the total nominations issued, Indians secured 4,212.

A majority of the OINP nominations in 2020 went to candidates under Ontario’s Express Entry Human Capital Priorities [HCP] Stream.

In 2020, around 20% of nominations – that is, 1,604 – went out to Canada immigration candidates with either work experience or job offer in tech occupations.

Announced on December 19, 2019, the OINP Regional Immigration Pilot started accepting applications sometime in mid-June 2019.

A total of 67 nominations were issued by Ontario PNP through the Pilot in 2020. For 2021, up to 233 spaces have been allotted to regional pilot applicants that intend settling within any of the 3 participating communitiesin Ontario.
In 2020, the OINP nominated individuals with job offers from 2,500+ different employers across Ontario. At least 48% of OINP nominees in 2020 already had a job offer in Ontario before their OINP nomination for Canada PR. |
Recently, the OINP has announced that it there will now be in placean Expression of Interest [EOI] system for 5 of its immigration streams.
