Austria’s Red-white-red card

The Red-white-red card is a two-year-valid combination of residence and work permits. Red-white-red card attracts a large number of foreigners. 3,200 applications were approved for Austria’s red-white-red card in the first four months of 2024, 35% increase compared to 2023. Recent statistics show an increase in the number of skilled third-country nationals moving to Austria for work purposes.  

Austria’s Labour Minister Martin Kocher (ÖVP) said that this number could rise to 10,000 by the end of the year, with the trend expected to experience an ongoing increase. The increased demand for skilled workers has been considered among the most critical challenges for Austria’s economy in the past few years.
