3,700 People Granted German Citizenship in Brandenburg

 Germany Citizenship applications in 2024

According to recent reports by the Interior Ministry preliminary figures, Germany has issued around 3764 citizenship applications in Brandenburg in 2024. The majority of German citizenship beneficiaries were from Syria, Poland, Ukraine and Iran.

The naturalization figures in 2024 recorded an all-time high as compared to the last 20 years. Citizenship figures were below 1000 in the last 20 years, with a slight increase in 2023 when it rose to 2,490 citizenships. Naturalization figures have increased significantly in Berlin and Brandenburg, Germany.

New Citizenship Law Attracting Larger Number Citizenship Applications

The government of Germany had implemented several changes under the New Citizenship law in 2024. The new law was introduced to speed up the naturalization process and reduce processing times.

Foreign nationals are also allowed to retain their original nationality while applying for German citizenship. These new laws have led to an increase in demand for German citizenships since 2024.
