Canada held Express Entry Draw #153 on June 24, 2020. Specifically targeting immigration candidates with provincial nominations, 392 were issued invitations to apply for Canada permanent residence.
The previous draw was held on June 11, 2020.
As this was another Provincial Nominee Program [PNP] only draw – the 8th PNP-specific draw since the imposition of COVID-19 special measures on March 18 – the minimum Comprehensive Ranking System [CRS] requirement was of 696.
A provincial nomination fetches 600 additional points to be added to the CRS scores. Without a provincial nomination, the profiles would have had a human capital score of only 96.
CRS is used for ranking the profiles against each other when they are in the Express Entry pool. Highest-ranked profiles are issued invitations in the subsequent draws that are held.
It is through the CRS score – allotted on factors like age, education, work experience, language proficiency in English or French, job offer, provincial nomination, etc. – that candidates are selected based on their having a higher likelihood of meeting with success in the Canadian labour market.
Tie-break rule applied in the June 24 draw was of April 23, 2020, at 10:39:30 UTC. All those that had a CRS of 696 and above and had submitted their profile to the Express Entry profile before the date and time in the tie-break were issued invitations.
With this latest draw, Canada has issued a total of 46,392 invitations so far in 2020.
Total 20 Express Entry draws have been held in 2020 so far.
