Germany is facing shortage of skilled nursing staff and experts predict that approximately 500,000 nurses will be required by 2030. In order to facilitate the migration of trained nurses to Germany, Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and the International Placement Services (ZAV) of the German Federal Employment Agency launched the Triple Win Programme in 2013.
The Triple Win Program focuses on recruiting qualified nurses from other countries, such as from India, Indonesia, and Philippines to migrate to Germany and fill the nursing staff shortages.

Licensed Indian nurses must complete technical and language training in order to practice in Germany. They not only find job opportunities in Germany but also receive support in both personal and professional development. Within a year of arrival, their credentials are formally recognized.

Indian applicants must go through the following procedure:
This phase involves recruitment interview, language courses, professional nursing orientation, and recognition document preparation.
The post-arrival phase involves matching processes, employer interviews, medical check-ups, and work visas, with on-going support from GIZ's integration advisors.
GIZ provides support and oversees the integration of Triple Win applicants once they arrive in Germany. GIZ helps candidates complete their tasks for state administrations in a single day.
The visa is valid for a period of one year and can be converted into a residence permit once nurses successfully complete the B2 exam and the recognition process in Germany. This visa may be converted into a permanent resident permit after five years.
Family reunification is possible when all the prerequisites are met such as having a sufficient salary and housing. Spouses and children must apply for family reunion at the appropriate German embassy before leaving the country.
