The recent survey conducted by Nanos Research, one of the leading research and strategy groups in North America, has measured Canadians opinions towards temporary foreign workers and showed that majority of Canadians emphasized the importance of temporary foreign workers crucial for the nation’s economy.

Nanos conducted the survey through RDD dual frame which included both the hybrid telephone and online random survey of 1,006 Canadians who were 18 years of age or older.
The survey focused on their significance to the Canadian economy, support for employers hiring them to fill vacancies, their ability to become citizens or permanent residents, the number of temporary foreign workers who travel to Canada in search of employment, and allowing them to switch employers.
The results were weighted by age and gender using the latest Census information and the sample was geographically stratified in Canada. The survey showed a margin error of ± 3.1 points, which is 19 out of the 20 times.

A notable majority of 48% of Canadians show that temporary foreign workers as crucial to the country's economy, with an additional 34% considering foreign workers as somewhat crucial.
Around 56% of older Canadians expressed stronger agreement compared to 38% of the younger Canadians.
Eight out of ten Canadians either support (49%) or somewhat support (30%) firms hiring temporary foreign workers to fill positions that cannot be filled by Canadians.
Notably, the Atlantic area and Quebec in Canada have higher levels of support for this.

Over two thirds of Canadians are in support of temporary foreign workers aspiring to become citizens or permanent residents. Older Canadians were more likely to provide this support than the younger Canadians.

Furthermore, when it came to permitting temporary foreign workers to switch employers, Canadians exhibited a more approving behavior, with majority of them (31%) being in favor compared those who were against (17%) who were against this.
Coming to regional variances, people in Quebec were more likely to agree with permitting temporary foreign workers to switch employers in Canada compared to people in Prairies and British Columbia.
