The 6-month Jobseeker Visa in the UAE is not available now after the amnesty program ended on 31 December clarified the officials. GDRFA - General Directorate of Residency and Foreign Affairs and Amer centres have been folded with calls and queries. This is regarding the 6 months provisional Visa scheme for residents who are unemployed.
UAE officials have said that the scheme got over with the end of the amnesty program. So far no official communication is available regarding the new provisional Visa scheme for residents who are unemployed.
The amnesty program was finally ended on 31 December 2018 before being extended twice, as quoted by the Khaleej Times. It permitted violators to change their residency status. This is by applying for a 6-month provisional employment Visa or obtaining a valid sponsored Visa.
One of the Branch officers at Dubai Amer Centre said that the 6-month Jobseeker Visa was available only during the amnesty period for violators. This option was for only those who committed Visa violations prior to 31 August. The scheme does not have provision for those who committed the violations after this date. It is also not available for jobless residents seeking a new job, added the officer.
The UAE Government offered the provisional 6 months Visa only for residents who violated Visas prior to 31 August 2018. This was as a part of the amnesty program that it ran from 1 August till 31 December 2018. It offered a chance to the individuals to make their status lawful or exit UAE without having to pay fine for overstaying.
Meanwhile, the Government had also announced a new Visa scheme that would permit jobless residents in the UAE to search jobs. This is yet to be implemented by the authorities.
