According to recent reports by Bain and Company, India is projected to face an AI talent shortage due to huge job vacancies worldwide. While there will be around 2.3 million AI job vacancies by 2027, India’s AI talent pool is expected to grow to around 1.2 million by that year.

The Partner and Leader in Bain and Company’s AI, Insights, and Solutions practice in India stated that “India has a unique opportunity to position itself as a global AI talent hub.” The Bain Study has reported that although AI jobs have increased by 21% every year since 2019, Indian youth have not kept up with the growing demand, which has created a talent shortage among skilled professionals.
Leader Saikat Banerjee opined that the challenge and opportunity for Indian youth lie in upskilling and reskilling their talent base with the help of emerging technology tools. He also stated that Indian companies would need to think beyond traditional hiring approaches and prioritize an innovation-driven ecosystem.
