In its last two invitation rounds, Alberta has invited 401 Express Entry candidates.
The invitation round held on 24th October invited 372 Express Entry candidates with CRS as low as 300. The October 30th draw invited 29 EE candidates with CRS of 350 and above.
The cut-off score in the Federal Express Entry Program has never dipped to as low as 300 ever. Yet, Alberta provides a route to Canadian Permanent Residency to skilled candidates with low CRS scores.
Invited candidates who obtain a provincial nomination will get an additional 600 points on their CRS score.
This will effectively guarantee them an ITA in the subsequent Express Entry selection round.
The highest cut-off for the Federal Express Entry round this year has been 475. The 600 points obtained from a provincial nomination will put candidates well above the highest cut-off score.
Hence, candidates who are not scoring high on the CRS score should definitely consider going the provincial nomination route.
What are the eligibility requirements of the Alberta Express Entry Stream?
The Alberta Express Entry Stream selects applicants from the Express Entry Pool who have strong ties to the province. Candidates who can support the economic development of the province are also selected by the stream. Selected candidates need to submit a provincial nomination application through the Alberta Express Entry Stream. This stream is managed by the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program.
