Alberta has now released the details of the second provincial draw to be held in 2021 by the province under the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program [AINP].

On January 28, 2021, the AINP invited a total of 100 Canada immigration candidates under the Alberta Express Entry Stream.

Those invited can proceed to applying for a provincial nomination through Alberta under the Provincial Nominee Program [PNP] of Canada. Express Entry candidates successful in securing a provincial nomination get 600 CRS points.

By CRS here is implied the Comprehensive Ranking System [CRS] that determines as to which Express Entry profiles are issued invitations in the federal draws that are held from time to time. It is the highest-ranked Express Entry profiles that are issued Invitations to Apply [ITA] by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada [IRCC].

The Alberta Express Entry Stream may select – based on the available profile information –Express Entry candidates and sent them an NOI letter in their federal Express Entry profile. An Express Entry candidate might receive an NOI from the AINP if they – ·       Have an active Express Entry profile ·       Have stated an interest in migrate overseas to Alberta ·       Are working in an occupation that supports the economic diversification and development of Alberta ·       Have a minimum CRS score of 300 Certain ‘adaptability’ factors – such as an Alberta job offer and/or work experience etc. – might increase the likelihood of the candidate receiving an invitation.

Fetching 600 CRS points, a PNP nomination guarantees that an Express Entry candidate is invited to apply for Canadian permanent residence. Not all Express Entry candidates receive ITAs.

The previous AINP draw was held on January 8, 2021. The minimum score – the Comprehensive Ranking System [CRS] used for ranking Express Entry profiles – was CRS 360 in January 28 AINP draw.

The minimum CRS requirement has registered a 40-point drop. The minimum CRS required in the January 8 draw by the AINP was that of CRS 400.

2020 had been a comparatively quiet year for the AINP. While 11 AINP draws had been held between January – June 2020, no provincial draw was held by Alberta after June 17, 2020.

While Alberta had an allocation for 6,250 nomination certificates for 2020, Alberta reduced their allocation to 4,000 nominations in view of the COVID-19 pandemic. As all the 4,000 AINP nominations had been issued by June 2020, no AINP draws were subsequently held in the second half of the year.

The AINP allocation for 2021 has not been disclosed as yet.
