Alberta In the latest draw that was held on 15th August, Alberta issued 121 invitations to Express Entry candidates. The lowest-scoring candidate had a CRS score of 400. This was the second draw in August of the Alberta Express Entry Stream. This stream allows the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) to search for suitable candidates in the EE Pool. Eligible candidates are then invited to apply for a provincial nomination through Alberta. The previous draw happened on 7th August and issued 35 invitations. The lowest CRS score in the draw was 352. To qualify for the Alberta EE Stream, you must have a valid profile in the Express Entry Pool. You do not need to have an offer of employment from Alberta or any prior work experience in the province. However, you should have relevant work experience in an occupation that contributes to the economic development of the province. The province does not have a list of eligible occupations though. Some Express Entry candidates are, however, prioritized by the AINP. They are:

  • Candidates who already have a job offer from Alberta or they have previously worked in Alberta
  • Candidates who have completed their post-secondary education from Canada and have secured a job offer
  • Candidates whose parents, siblings or children are already residing in Alberta

The Alberta Express Entry Stream was created last year. Since then, it has already conducted 28 draws and has issued 5,503 invitations. In 2019, the Alberta Express Entry stream has issued 3,868 invitations to Express Entry candidates so far, as per CIC News. The Alberta Express Entry Stream generally selects EE candidates whose CRS scores are much lower than the current federal cut-off. On four occasions in 2019, the stream has selected EE candidates with CRS scores as low as 300. Three draws saw the cut-off plummet to 301 while one had a cut-off of 302. In comparison, the lowest cut-off in the Federal Express Entry draws of 2019 has been 438. The latest Express Entry draw had a cut-off score of 466.
