On March 26, 2021, Alberta has invited another 300 Canada immigration hopefuls to apply for a nomination through the province under the Provincial Nominee Program [PNP] of Canada. The trend of Alberta targeting a comparatively lower ranking score of Express Entry candidates continues in the latest Alberta PNP draw as well.
Linked with the federal Express Entry system of Canada, the Alberta Express Entry stream allows the AINP to regularly review the candidates available in the pool. The AINP draws select candidates from the pool based on the profile information in the portal. Selected candidates are invited by the AINP to submit their complete application for a PNP nomination through Alberta. |
The minimum score required of the candidates in order to receive an Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program [AINP] nomination in the latest AINP draw was that of CRS 301. CRS, or the Comprehensive Ranking System, is used for the purposes of ranking profiles while in the federal Express Entry system of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada [IRCC]. While creating an Express Entry profile is quite a simple and straight-forward process, applying for Canadian permanent residence is by invitation only. It is the highest-ranked profiles in the Express Entry system that are invited by IRCC to apply for Canada PR. Fetching CRS 600 points on its own, a PNP nomination guarantees an IRCC invitation for an Express Entry candidate. Of the nearly 80 immigration pathways available under Canada PNP, many are aligned with the federal Express Entry system.

While the 2020 IRCC allocation for Alberta PNP was that of 6,250 nomination certificates, the AINP did not issue more than 4,000 nomination certificates in view of the COVID-19 situation. No AINP draws were held in the second half of 2020. The last AINP draw of 2020 was held on June 17, 2021. The AINP allocation for 2021 has not been revealed as yet.
