Alberta’s new EOI system

The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) has decided to launch a new system for Expression of Interest on September 30, 2024. The province will not be proceeding with the dates that were remaining for the acceptance of monthly applications.

Candidates will be placed in a selection pool after they submit their Expression of Interest. They would be invited to the province on the basis of their ranking and the current labour market requirements of the province. This new system will be applicable for the ongoing intake of candidates.

Applications for AAIP

According to recent statistical data, Alberta received 446 web form submissions in the selection pool between May 23 and June 11, 2024. The table below has the details of the number of applications received under each AAIP stream as of July 25, 2024:

The AAIP will also launch a new PR immigration program for immigrants willing to work as police officers in Canada. Candidates having a valid job offer from an Alberta Association of Chiefs of Police Member (AACP) and fulfilling all other eligibility requirements will be invited und the new program.

The following professions are eligible for the program:

• Commissioned and non-commissioned police officers and related job roles in public protection services
• Police investigators and other job roles related to the investigation
• Other specialized law enforcement professions

Note: Employers associated with the enforcement of the law must be AACP members.

According to the statistical at provided by IRCC, almost 57,585 new PRS were invited to Alberta in 2023. An increase of 16.3% was reported in the number of new PRS welcomed in 2023 as compared to that of 2022. The table below has the details of PRs welcomed under different streams:
