The OINP’s (Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program) Foreign Workers Stream was temporarily suspended in April 2019. However, the stream is once again open to applications.
Eligible candidates can now submit an application through the e-filing portal of OINP. Successful candidates will get a Work Permit support letter. This will allow them to apply for a Canadian Work Permit while their PR application is processed.
The Foreign Workers Stream has several advantages for eligible applicants:
Selected candidates will be able to submit a paper-based application for Permanent Residence to the Federal Govt. of Canada.
Who are eligible for the Foreign Workers Stream?
To qualify under the Foreign Workers Stream, eligible candidates must have an offer of employment from Ontario. The offer of employment should be full-time and the salary should be at or above the median wage of the province. The job offer should be in an occupation under NOC 0, A or B.
Eligible applicants should also have at least 2 years of work experience in the recent 5 years. The experience should be in the same occupation as the offer of employment. However, candidates who hold a valid license or authorization to practice the occupation on the offer of employment are exempt from this requirement. The appropriate regulatory body should have issued the license or authorization in Ontario.
Ontario is the foremost choice among new immigrants in Canada
Ontario receives more new immigrants than any other province in Canada. In 2019, Ontario has the greatest migrant nomination allocation than ever before. This year, Ontario is all set to welcome 6,900 new immigrants and their families, as per CIC News.
