The U.S. government is encouraging more Indian Americans to apply for Citizenship and register for the upcoming elections. Qualifying Indian Americans with Green cards can convert to Citizenship in three weeks. According to reports, a majority of the Green card holders in the U.S. are Indian Americans and Asian Americans.
The Chairman and founder of the AAPI (Asian American Pacific Islanders), Shekar Narasimhan, said that Green card holders residing in the country for five years can get their Citizenship and register for the elections as active voters. The government is making efforts to allow candidates to register in advance, as most of the states have a deadline. He further urged the candidates to create a group on WhatsApp, add at least 20 friends, and remind each other about the importance of voting.

Shekar Narasimhan added that Kamala Harris, the Vice President of the U.S., who is now participating in the presidential run, has stirred much zest and excitement among Asian Americans, Indian Americans, and other communities. He emphasized the importance of converting the excitement into votes to extend their support. Indian Americans who qualify as Green card holders and have remained in the U.S. for five years can register and get U.S. citizenship in just three weeks. Shekar Narasimhan said, "So, get your Citizenship if you haven't done it. Register to vote. Vote, and then organise others to go and vote. All this can be done in 100 days."
