The framework for how international travel to and from Australia will look in the coming months is being laid down by the Australian government. |
As per the Prime Minister’s Office, “once changes are made in November, the current overseas travel restrictions related to COVID-19 will be removed and Australians will be able to travel subject to any other travel advice and limits, as long as they are fully vaccinated and those countries’ border settings allow”. |
COVID-19 vaccines recognized by Australia |
Approved and registered for use in Australia by the Therapeutic Goods Administration [TGA] - · AstraZeneca [Vaxzevria] · Moderna [Spikevax] · COVID-19 Vaccine Janssen · Pfizer [Comirnaty] |
Other vaccines ‘recognized’ by the TGA [with effect from October 1, 2021] · Covishield [AstraZeneca/Serum Institute of India] · Coronavac [Sinovac] These 2 vaccines are to be considered “recognized vaccines” for determining whether international travellers coming to Australia are appropriately vaccinated. While these vaccines have not as yet been approved by the TGA for use for vaccination in Australia, the recognition of these 2 additional vaccines can be regarded as a “major milestone towards more Australians vaccinated overseas getting home sooner”. |
