An announcement has been made by Australian government on Friday that the permanent immigration has been increased by 35,000. The immigration target has increased from 160,000 to 195,000 in the current fiscal year.
Home Affairs Minister O’Neil has made an announcement of the increase for the fiscal year that will end on June 30, 2023. The announcement has been made in the two-day summit in which 140 representatives from different authorities participated. These authorities included governments, businesses, trade unions, and industries.

The Home Affairs Minister has stated that there is a shortage of nurses and the available ones have to do double and triple shifts. The flights have been canceled due to the shortage of ground staff. She stated that the first focus has been given to the Australian jobs. The summit focused on training of the new staff along with the participation of women.
The minister also added that even if every possibility is taken into account, there will still be a shortage of workers. She said that because of the complexity of the immigration rules, candidates are migrating to other countries.
Anthony Albanese stated that 180,000 places will be left for the educational schools next year and its cost will be 1.1 Australian dollars. This will help in reducing the skills shortage.
