The Australian Federal Government has recently announced the cap count for international students starting a course in 2025. Australia will welcome around 270,000 students who are willing to start a higher education degree or vocational education course in the country.
The recruitment process for international students is already in process, and the release of the cap count will facilitate the admission process for universities and educational institutions.
The new cap count applies to international students who want to enroll themselves for higher educational degrees and vocational courses in Australia. However, exemptions are allowed for the following types of students:
The cap count will only apply to "new" international students who will start an educational program in the country for the first time in 2025.
The overall cap count for public Universities in Australia is set at 145,000 new international students. The count is based on the percentage of international student enrolments on Australian campuses.
The cap count for Australian private universities and non-higher education institutions is set at 30,000 new international students. The vocational educational sector, including TAFEs, has a cap count of 95,000 new international students in 2025.
