The Australian State of Victoria has made several changes to the Skilled Visa processes for purposes of nomination. This is under the Business and Skilled Migration Program. It is to enhance the customer experience, streamline operations and strengthen targeting.
The below changes to the Skilled Visa processes have been made effective from September 10, 2018:
The current streamlined processing for 457 Skilled Visa has been eliminated, as quoted by the SBS. The eligible visa holders who possess occupations on any one of the occupations on the Victorian nomination can still qualify. They can apply for Visa nomination from Victoria and retain current alternate routes to Australia PR.
The existing pathway for Overseas Ph.D. graduates will be continued. Nevertheless, the processing times will be altered. The existing 2-week fast-track process will be changed to standard 12-week processing. This will be applicable to all nomination applications for Skilled Visa. It will bring this route in alignment with the remaining Skilled Immigration Program.
The application process of “Invitation Only” will remain applicable for the 3 industry groups:
The above is for those 457 visa applicants and holders with a valid job offer now subject to this process. It has been announced by Victoria that high caliber and eligible applicants in these sectors will continue to be invited.
