Overseas talents in the technology sector who aspire to immigrate to Canada can now cheer as British Columbia has extended the Tech Pilot program till 2019 June. This program was launched in 2017 August and targeted overseas professionals in the tech sector.
Tech Pilot aims to assist booming tech sector in British Columbia to hire overseas workers in 32 occupations that are in demand. This is done through selection draws that are held every week in the PNP BC pool of immigration applicants.
Provincial Nominee Program British Columbia announced that the Tech Pilot program is extended. Also, the number of occupations in the in-demand list has now been reduced to 29 from 32.
Meanwhile, overseas talents in the tech sector have another reason to smile. The duration of the job offer required for qualifying for the program has been reduced to 1-year full-time job. Earlier, a full-time permanent job offer was required, as quoted by the CIC News.
PNP BC said that the changes to the program were based on feedback from the tech sector in the province. These include those in the Digital Effects and Animation sectors. They offer jobs often on the basis of a project for a fixed time period.
The 3 occupations that are removed include:
S No | NOC | Occupation |
1. | 0113 | Purchasing Managers |
2. | 1123 | Professional Occupations in Public Relations, Marketing, and Advertising |
3. | 4163 | Marketing Research and Consultants and Business Development Officers |
Extending the program till 2019 June will offer the employers a level of stability said PNP BC. It will permit them to plan their future hiring needs, it added.
