The BC PNP Tech Pilot – a fast-tracked Canada immigration pathway for those intending taking up Canada PR and settling within British Columbia – has been extended until June 2021.
British Columbia, a part of the Provincial Nominee Program [PNP] of Canada, has the BC PNP for the induction of immigrants into the province. There are 3 categories for which the BC PNP issues invitations in provincial draws held on a regular basis. These categories are – · Skills Immigration [SI] · Express Entry BC [EEBC] · Entrepreneur Immigration [EI] The EEBC category is linked with the federal Express Entry system. For an Express Entry candidates, a PNP nomination is a guarantee of receiving an invitation to apply for Canada PR. A PNP nomination = 600 CRS points. These points, the Comprehensive Ranking System [CRS] points, are the basis on which Express Entry candidates are issued invitations by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada [IRCC]. The CRS has a total of 1,200 points, While 600 are for human capital factors [age, education, work experience, language ability etc.], another 600 are set aside as “additional points” [for factors such as PNP nomination, arranged employment in Canada etc. ]. |
Now, there are 4 different immigration pathways or ‘streams’ that come under BC PNP’s EEBC category. Of these, 2 streams – EEBC Skilled Worker and EEBC International Graduate – require a prior invitation to be able to apply.
EEBC International Post-Graduate and EEBC HealthCare Professional applicants do not need an invitation, and can apply directly through BCPNP Online. |
In 2020, British Columbia invited 9,000+ candidates through the Skills Immigration [SI] and Express Entry BC [EEBC] categories.
