On July 28, British Columbia invited – through the BC Provincial Nominee Program [BC PNP] – candidates under the categories of Express Entry BC, Skills Immigration, and Entrepreneur Immigration.
Of the total 46 invitations issued, while 34 went to the BC PNP Tech Pilot draw, 12 entrepreneurs also received invitations.
Candidates that have received invitations can now apply for a provincial nomination for Canada permanent residence. Logging into their BC PNP Online profile will be required for finding out if an invitation had been issued.
As part of the Tech Pilot draw held on the day, invitations were issued by the BC PNP to qualified registrants that had job offers in any of the 29 technology occupations in demand in the province. Under the Entrepreneur Immigration category, Base Category as well as Regional Pilot registrants received invitations to apply.
A fast-track Canada immigration pathway, the BC PNP Tech Pilot offers expedited processing. Operating through the existing BC PNP streams, the Tech Pilot of British Columbia is for international students and tech workers that are in demand in the province.
The BC Tech Pilot has been extended until June 2021.
For eligibility, candidates are required to have a valid job offer of a minimum 1 year’s duration in any of the 29 tech occupations that come under the BC PNP Tech Pilot.
Skills Immigration and Express Entry BC categories require that candidates create a profile through the online portal of the BC PNP, registering themselves with the BC PNP’s Skills Immigration Registration System [SIRS]. After assessment, a score will be allotted based on various factors, such as work experience, English proficiency etc.
The Entrepreneur Immigration category of the BC PNP has 2 sub-categories. The EI – Regional Pilot is for foreign entrepreneurs that intend starting a new business in the province of British Columbia in Canada. The EI – Base Category, on the other hand, is for foreign entrepreneurs that plan to purchase an already existing business in BC.
