What is BC PNP Tech?
An expedited immigration pathway, BC PNP Tech operates within the existing categories of Skills Immigration (SI) and Express Entry BC (EEBC).
BC PNP Tech offers skilled workers looking to immigrate to British Columbia a fast-tracked route to Canadian permanent residence, provided they have a job offer in BC in any of the 29 key tech occupations.
Earlier known as BC PNP Tech Pilot, the same has now been extended indefinitely and renamed accordingly.
To be eligible for BC PNP Tech, the job offer in BC must be – (1) valid, (2) under any of the 29 eligible occupations, (3) for a minimum of 1 year in duration, (4) with at least 120 days left at the time of applying to BC PNP. |
On a periodic basis, the highest-scoring registrants in each of the BC PNP categories are invited to apply to the BC PNP. Those successful in securing a PNP nomination through British Columbia can then proceed to applying to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for permanent residence.
A PNP nomination guarantees an invitation to apply for an IRCC Express Entry candidate. 67 points will have to be scored to create an Express Entry profile.
The decision to grant Canadian permanent residence lies with the federal government of Canada. While provincial and territorial governments in Canada might nominate Canada immigration hopefuls, IRCC decides who gets to settle in Canada as a permanent resident.
