British Columbia introduced more than 100,000 jobs in 2021

The pacific province, British Columbia, has released Canada's Labor Force Survey status in December 2021.

Ravi Kahlon, British Columbia’s Minister of Jobs, has announced the province’s contribution to the Canadian labor market.

As per his statement, "101,000 jobs added in British Columbia for the year of 2021 marks a 3.9% increase compared to 2020 job numbers, with 84,000 of these jobs being full-time jobs. In December 2021 alone, the province added 25,000 full-time jobs."

Highlights of Minister Statement

  • The province provided a 102.1 percent higher employment level compared to pre-pandemic levels. In 2021, the province added more than 100,000 jobs throughout the province in 2021.
  • 101,000 jobs were added in B.C. in 2021, which marks 3.9% increase compared to 2020, that is 84,000 jobs in number.
  • In December 2021, the province added 25,000 full-time jobs.
  • Recorded lowest unemployment rates in the country at 5.3 percent.
  • The current employment rate is above 102.1 percent, which is above pre-pandemic levels and recorded as the highest in Canada.
  • More than 56,000 people are employed in British Columbia as of today.
  • In first three quarters of 2021, more than 85,000 people arrived in B.C. across Canada and other parts of the world, as it is safe to build their future.
  • In the midst of the pandemic, in 2021, the province received major investments that supported for major growth of the province economy providing new jobs in every corner of the province.
  • In 2021, the B.C. saw a gain of 114,100 private-sector jobs.
  • The province announced the COVID-19 Closure Relief Grant – a fast-tracked program designed to help people pay the bills during these odd times. The applications for this grant program will be online next week, and the eligible businesses range from $1,000 to $10,000, depending on the number of employees.
  • The province remains supportive to the businesses to navigate at difficult times.
  • The province government has invested more than half-a-billion dollars in supporting businesses and their staff through this pandemic. This is the largest investment of all the provinces in Canada.
