The previous BC PNP draw was held on July 6, 2021. The draw held before that – that is, on June 29 – was a BC PNP Tech draw.
Those invited can now submit their complete application to the BC PNP for a nomination by British Columbia for permanent residence in Canada.

Generally, for a majority of the PNP streams, Canada PR through the provincial or territorial route involves a 2-step process.
Firstly, a PNP nomination must be secured by the candidate. Following which, the candidate can then use their Nomination Certificate for applying for Canadian permanent residence to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada [IRCC].
There are 2 ways of going about the process. A candidate can either create an IRCC Express Entry profile before approaching the different PNPs available, or register with IRCC after they have secured their PNP nomination.
An interest in settling within a specific province or provinces after being granted Canada PR can be specified at the time of the creation of an Express Entry profile with IRCC. An Express Entry profile can be updated later as well.
Fetching 600 CRS points for an IRCC Express Entry candidate, a PNP nomination guarantees an ITA by IRCC. By CRS is implied the Comprehensive Ranking System used for ranking IRCC profiles against one another. It is the highest-ranked Express Entry profiles that are invited to apply for permanent residence. Hence, a PNP nomination guarantees an ITA by IRCC in a subsequent federal draw to be held. |
As this was a BC PNP Tech draw, invitations to apply [ITAs] issued in the latest provincial draw by BC went to candidates eligible for the Skills Immigration or Express Entry BC categories that had a job offer in any of the 29 key occupations.
Earlier referred to as the BC PNP Tech Pilot and recently made permanent [renamed to BC PNP Tech accordingly], the BC PNP Tech provides tech employers in the province the “continued ability to recruit and retain international talent” wherever local workers are unavailable.
A prioritized pathway to permanent residency in Canada, the BC PNP Tech offers individuals in 29 tech occupations a Canada immigration pathway to settle within British Columbia, thereby contributing to the province’s shared prosperity and building a great life in BC.
The BC PNP Tech is not a separate stream or category as such.
Through the BC PNP Tech, candidates in the existing BC PNP categories of SI and EEBC are invited to apply, provided they have a job offer in any of the 29 key occupations.
With the latest BC PNP draw, a total of 6,274 invitations have been issued by British Columbia in 2021 so far. |
