The latest British Columbia PNP invitation round was conducted on 30th July. 98 invitations were issued under the Skills Immigration (SI), Express Entry British Columbia (EEBC) and Entrepreneur stream.
70 invitations were issued under the BC PNP tech pilot. These went out to skilled tech workers and international graduates who had a job offer in any of the 29 eligible tech occupations. The lowest-scoring candidate in both the categories had a score of 90 points.
The remaining 28 invitations were issued under the below categories:
22 invitations were issued under the EI-Base Category with the lowest score being 114. 6 invites were issued under the EI-Regional Pilot Stream with the cut-off being 111 points.
The British Columbia Tech Pilot was introduced in 2017. The pilot targets the labour needs in the growing technology sector of the province. The tech pilot has issued 848 invitations so far in 2019, as per CIC News.
Like other BC PNP categories, the tech pilot does not require candidates to have an indefinite, full-time job offer from the province. Eligible candidates under the tech pilot need to have a job offer that is at least a year long. They should also have a remainder of 120 days while applying for a provincial nomination.
Senior Managers or Business owners who wish to set up their own or invest in a business in British Columbia can apply under the EI-Base Category.
The EI- Regional Pilot Stream aims to attract foreign entrepreneurs to small, rural communities in the province.
