Canada’s British Columbia province has held its latest round of invitations under the Provincial Nominee Program [PNP].
On May 4, 2021, British Columbia PNP has issued 84 invitations to Canada immigration hopefuls.
As this was a Tech Pilot draw, invitations issued went out to candidates that had job offers in any of the 29 key tech occupations.
Those invited can now apply for a BC PNP nomination for Canada PR.
The BC PNP Tech Pilot offers an expedited Canada immigration pathway for candidates possessing tech skills that intend taking up permanent residence in Canada, settling within the province of British Columbia. |
The Tech Pilot of the BC PNP is not a separate category or stream as such.
Under the Tech Pilot – launched in 2017, and most recently extended until June 2021 – invitations are issued under the existing BC PNP categories of Skills Immigration [SI] and Express Entry BC [EEBC].
An Overview of May 4 BC PNP Tech Pilot draw Total invitations issued: 84 | |
Immigration Streams | Minimum SIRS Score |
EEBC – Skilled Worker | 80 |
EEBC – International Graduate | 80 |
SI – Skilled Worker | 80 |
SI – International Graduate | 80 |
Note. SIRS: Skills Immigration Registration System, an intake management system.
The SIRS is used by the BC PNP for the purposes of prioritizing candidates for being nominated by BC under the PNP of Canada.
The EEBC category of the BC PNP is aligned with the federal Express Entry system.
An Express Entry candidate that is able to secure a nomination – through any of the Express Entry linked PNP streams – is automatically allotted 600 CRS points, thereby boosting their profile towards the top of the Express Entry pool.
Here, by ‘CRS’ is implied the Comprehensive Ranking System used for the purposes of ranking Express Entry profiles against one another.
The highest-ranked Express Entry candidates, based on their CRS scores, are invited in the federal draws held from time to time.
A PNP nomination, therefore guarantees an Invitation to Apply [ITA] consequently from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada. Applying for Canadian permanent residence through the Express Entry system is by invitation only.
With the latest BC PNP draw, so far a total of 3,976 invitations issued by British Columbia PNP in 2021.
