UK

When your course in the UK is close to completion, it is time to look for visa options to continue your stay. Whether it is to look for jobs, continue your studies, or begin a business venture you would need to have a new visa in place.

Here are some of the options for Tier 4 graduate to stay in the UK after completing your studies:

1. Tier 4 Visa pilot

This scheme is currently available to only a few select Universities in the UK. You may apply for a Masters course in any of them for up to 13 months. You get an additional 6 months on your visa to look for jobs in the UK.

2. Extending your Tier 4 Visa

You may extend your Tier 4 Visa to either continue your current course or begin a new one. However, you must have a sponsor. The application also should be made within strict timeframes.

3. Tier 2 (General) Visa

If you have an offer of employment from a licensed sponsor you may apply for the Tier 2 (General) Visa. This visa may allow you to stay and work in the UK for up to 5 years. The Tier 2 Visa may also help you potentially settle in the UK in the long run.

4. Special Visas

There are 3 special Visa schemes in the UK:

* Exceptional Talent Visa

* Tech Nation Visa

* Research and Innovation Talent Visas

These visas were designed to attract and retain skills in the UK’s growing technology sector. Applicants who can meet high technical skills requirement may apply for this visa.

A new Startup Visa is being developed and has been opened to applicants from Spring 2018, as per Study International.

5. Tier 1 Entrepreneur Visa

This Visa is very popular among Tier 4 visa holders. This Visa allows you to start your own venture or invest in an existing UK business. To be eligible you would need to make a minimum financial investment. You would also be required to submit a strong business proposal.

6. Tier 1 Investor Visa

A number of international students are now avoiding the Tier 4 visa and going straight for this one. The Tier 1 Investor Visa allows you to study in the UK for up to 5 years. You may be allowed to apply for a British passport after that. To be eligible, you would need to meet any one of the three investment levels. Also, the rules of investment are strict and must be adhered to for eligibility.
