Canada Express Entry latest draw has CRS drop further

In Express Entry Draw #146 held on May 1, Canada has issued 3,311 Invitations to Apply [ITA] to immigration candidates in another Canadian Experience Class [CEC]-specific draw. Those invited had a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System [CRS] cut-off of 452.  

 

This is the eighth program-specific draw to be held since COVID-19 special measures have been imposed by the Canadian government on March 18. With the present draw, as many as 34,300 have been invited to apply for Canada PR in 2020 so far.

 

A tie-break rule was applied in the draw. The date and time used were October 10, 2019, at 19:15:28 UTC. All CEC candidates with their profiles in the Express Entry pool and a CRS score 452 and above that had submitted their profiles before this date and time were issued an ITA.

 

The Canadian government has been holding program-specific draws since March 18, that is when the COVID-19 special measures were imposed and the travel ban came into force.

 

Both the categories of immigration candidates that have been invited in such program-specific draws – CEC and Provincial Nominee Program [PNP] – are the likeliest of them all to already be in Canada as compared to those coming through the other programs under the Express Entry System.

 

As CEC and provincial nominees might already be in Canada when being issued with invitations to apply, they will not be affected by the travel restrictions.

 

Under the 2020-2022 Immigration Levels Plan announced by the government of Canada on March 12, a total of 341,000 immigrants are to be welcomed by Canada in 2020.

 

A total of 13 Express Entry draws have been held in 2020 so far.
