Express Entry Draw #148 held on May 15 was another program-specific draw. 3,371 Invitations to Apply [ITAs] were issued to Canadian Experience Class [CEC] candidates with a Comprehensive Ranking System [CRS] score of 447 and above.
This is the lowest CRS requirement for any CEC-specific draw since January 2019. The present CRS score cut-off of 447 is a 5 point decrease from CRS 452 required in the previously held CEC draw on May 1.
This draw comes especially close to the draw held on May 13 specifically targeting immigration candidates with a provincial nomination. As a provincial nomination adds 600 additional points to the overall CRS score of a candidate, the minimum CRS requirement in the recent PNP-specific draw was of 718.
The Express Entry System of Canada is an online system utilized by the Canadian Government to manage permanent residence applications from skilled workers. It is the Express Entry System that manages the 3 main economic-immigration programs – Canadian Experience Class [CEC], Federal Skilled Trades Program [FSTP] and Federal Skilled Worker Program [FSWP].
Despite COVID-19 special measures in place in Canada since March 18, regular draws continue to be held from the Express Entry pool. Nevertheless, the focus in recent draws has been on immigration candidates that are more likely to already be in Canada – such as those under CEC or PNP – than those arriving through other economic immigration programs.
A tie-break rule was applied in the May 15 draw. The date and time used was December 23, 2019 at 10:01:06 UTC. All CEC candidates that had submitted their profiles before this date and time along with having a CRS score of 447 and above were issued an ITA in this invitation round.
With the latest draw, Canada has invited 38,200 immigration candidates in 2020 so far.
A total of 15 Express Entry draws have been held in 2020 so far.
