In two provinces of Canada, there is a high rise in the number of paid jobs. The number of jobs rose in March 2022. The rise was very high in comparison to the period before the pandemic. Vacancies have been increased by 22.6 percent and the number of job positions went up to 186,400.

The job vacancy rate is measured by dividing all the empty positions by all the jobs in Canada. The rate of job vacancies came up to 5.9 percent in March.

Removal of pandemic restrictions led to an increase in job vacancies
The Survey of Employment Payrolls and Hours has stated that payroll employment has been increased up to 118,100 in March. The increase in payroll employment along with easing in public health measures led to an increase in job vacancies. There are situations where immigrants need to show COVID-19 vaccination proof. In some cases, COVID-19 testing is also required to work in Canada.
The three provinces mentioned below saw a low increase in paid jobs in March:
A boom happened in the field of hospitality in Quebec and 20,400 new paid jobs came into existence. The job vacancies increased as bars, casinos, and taverns were reopened from February 28, 2022. The number of jobs in the service sector in the whole country rose to 103,400. This happened due to the growth in the jobs in the hospitality industry and the number of job vacancies was 46,200. The jobs in retail grew up to 14,800 in March.
The average weekly earnings of the workers in March went up to $1,170 and the average worker got a yearly hike of 4.3 percent. In spite of increase in average salary, the purchasing power is reduced due to rise in inflation.
