In the latest Express Entry round of invitations – Draw #174 held on January 21, 2021 at 14:22:20 UTC – another 4,626 Canada immigration candidates have received invitations to apply for permanent residence.
This is the second Express Entry draw to be held by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada [IRCC] within a period of 2 days. The previous federal draw was held on January 20, 2021.
The previously held draw invited candidates from the Provincial Nominee Class, that is, those with a nomination under the Provincial Nominee Program [PNP] of Canada. The focus in the present draw, however, shifted to those with Canadian experience.

Number of invitation issued | 4,626 |
Candidate invited from | Canadian Experience Class [CEC] |
Minimum CRS cut-off | CRS 454 |

As the minimum ranking score – the Comprehensive Ranking System [CRS] score – required in the latest Express Entry draw was 454, all those CEC candidates received IRCC invitations that had a CRS of 454 and above.
In situations wherein more than 1 candidate has the lowest score, the cut-off is based on the date and time that the candidates had submitted their Express Entry profiles.
The tie-breaking rule is applicable only to Express Entry profiles that have the minimum CRS required.
Canada has been found to be the most-accepting country for a migrant. Of the 401,000 newcomers to be welcomed by Canada in 2021, around 108,500 are to be Federal High Skilled. |
107,350 ITAs were issued by IRCC in 2020, a record in itself. By an ‘ITA’ here is implied an Invitation to Apply that is issued by IRCC to an Express Entry candidate to submit their application for Canadian permanent residence.
Applying for Canadian permanent residence through the Express Entry system is by invitation only. An individual cannot apply directly for Canada PR.
Not all Express Entry profiles receive invitations to apply. However, there are ways of ensuring that an invitation is issued by IRCC. Securing a PNP nomination fetches an Express Entry candidate 600 CRS points, thereby guaranteeing that they are invited in the subsequent federal draw.
