In Express Entry Draw #151 held on June 10, Canada issued invitations to 341 Express Entry candidates that had provincial nominations, inviting them to apply for Canadian permanent residence.
With this, a total of 42,441 main applicants have been issued invitations to apply for Canada PR in 2020.
The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System [CRS] cut-off was 743. The CRS required was 743 as 600 points are accounted for by a provincial nomination – that is, being provincially nominated gives an additional 600 CRS points towards the CRS score of a candidate. Hence, the human capital score of the invited candidates would have been 143.
This is the 13th program-specific draw to be held since the COVID-19 special measures have been put in place by Canada on March 18. Since then, program-specific draws have been held, alternating between the Provincial Nominee Program [PNP] and the Canadian Experience Class [CEC]. While so far 6 CEC-specific draws have been held since March 18, the present draw is the 7th PNP draw to be held since COVID-19 special measures.
With the travel ban being expected to be lifted by the end of June, all-program draws might be resumed soon. As of now, with program-specific draws being held, the focus is on immigration candidates that are more likely to already be in Canada as compared to those that are currently overseas.
A tie-break rule was applied in the present draw. All those that had submitted their profiles to the Express Entry pool prior to April 14, 2020, at 13:25:51 UTC and had a CRS of 743 and above received an Invitation to Apply [ITA].
So far in 2020, Canadian immigration targets appear to be on course for exceeding the levels of the previous year. More ITAs have been issued this year as compared to the same time in 2019.
A total of 18 Express Entry draws have been held in 2020 so far.
