The latest Express Entry Draw #166 – held on November 5, 2020 at 12:17:58 UTC – had 4,500 immigration candidates being invited to apply for Canadian permanent residence. The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System [CRS] score required was 478.
The previous Express Entry draw was held on October 14, 2020.
No program was specified by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada [IRCC] for the latest Express Entry draw.
As such, candidates from the following programs were eligible –
Federal Skilled Worker Program [FSWP] |
Federal Skilled Trades People [FSTP] |
Canadian Experience Class [CEC] |
Provincial Nominee Program [PNP] Express Entry linked streams only |
As per changes in CRS calculation announced by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada [IRCC], French-speaking Express Entry candidates were eligible for more points this time around.
Introduced on October 20, 2020, with the latest changes in the scoring system for Express Entry profiles, a candidate can “get additional points for good French skills”.
An NCLC 7 or above in all the four language abilities [listening, reading, speaking, and writing] in French can fetch a candidate 25 additional points, provided they have either scored a Canadian Language Benchmarks [CLB] level of 4 or lower in English or not appeared for their English test at all.
50 additional points can be earned by those with a NCLC or 7 and above in French along with a CLB 5 or higher in all 4 English skills.
These additional points are on top of the points that a candidate would have usually got for their official languages.
With a tie-breaking rule of October 26, 2020 at 22:44:19 UTC applied, Express Entry candidates that had a CRS of minimum 478 and had submitted their profile before the tie-break applied were issued an ITA.
Recently, Canada announced its 2021-2023 Immigration Levels Plan, setting one of the highest levels of immigration in its history.
401,000 immigrants are to be welcomed by Canada in 2021. The immigration target for 2022 and 2023 stands at 411,000 and 421,000 respectively.
With the latest Express Entry draw – the 33rd Express Entry draw in 2020 – a total of 87,350 ITAs have been issued so far this year.
