In Express Entry Draw #147 held on May 13, Canada has invited 529 PNP candidates with a CRS cut-off of 718. Candidates that already had a provincial nomination were invited in the latest draw to apply for Canada permanent residence.
This is another of the program-specific draws to be held by the Government of Canada since COVID-19 special measures were introduced on March 18.
While a minimum CRS cut-off of 718 might appear to be quite high, the fact must be kept in mind that a provincial nomination gives an additional 600 points to the overall CRS score of a candidate’s profile in the Express Entry pool.
Hence, if the 600 additional points through a provincial nomination are taken away, that leaves a CRS of only 118.
By CRS is meant the Comprehensive Ranking System that is used for ranking profiles in the Express Entry pool against each other. It is the highest-ranked profiles that are issued invitations in the draws that are held, both federal as well as provincial.
A tie-break rule was applied in this draw. The date and time used in the tie-break was that of March 19, 2020 at 12:53:21 UTC. This implies that all candidates that had a CRS score of 718 and above and had submitted their profiles before the specified date and time were invited.
With the latest draw on May 13, Canada has invited 34,829 immigration candidates in 2020 so far. By the same time in 2019, Canada has invited 31,250.
As per the 2020-2022 Immigration Levels Plan, Canada plans on inducting 341,000 immigrants in 2020. The Express Entry target stands at 85,800 ITAs in 2020.
Total 14 Express Entry draws have been held in 2020 so far.
