Canada jobs are increasingly attracting interest from job seekers in India. The reason for this is mostly the stringent US Work Visa and immigration policies. This has been revealed by the latest report by Indeed, the job search engine.
The report reveals that 6% of all overseas job searches originating in India in August 2016 were for Canada jobs. This number increased more than twice to reach 13% in July 2018, it added.
Meanwhile, during the same period, the US has lost a considerable share of outbound job searches from India, added the report. Brendon Bernard the Economist at Indeed said that the US is changing its policies and tone for Work Visas and immigration. This is the reason it has witnessed a 10% decline in job searches from India, he added, as quoted by the Global News CA.
Bernard said that the H-1B Visa program in the US usually attracts highly skilled Indian workers. This is particularly in areas such as Information Technology, Engineering, and Science, he said. 3/4th of H-1B Visa applicants were Indians in 2017, added the Economist.
Nevertheless, the process has now become longer and requires extra paperwork said, Bernard. This is after Trump assumed the office of the US President, he added. Thus it is not astonishing that India is witnessing the greatest shift in overseas job searches, explained Bernard.
The Indeed Economist observed that Indian workers are looking for highly skilled Canada jobs on Indeed. These typically fall under the US H-1B Visa, he revealed. Some of the highly searched jobs include Project Manager, Software Developer, Mechanical Engineer, and Business Analyst.
Bernard elaborates that change in US Visa policies is mostly the chief reason for Indian workers opting for Canada in place of the US.
