Canada secured the top spot as the safest place to travel to in the Berkshire Hathaway Travel Protection's Safest Destinations report for 2024 after moving up from sixth spot in 2023. Berkshire Hathaway highlighted that the Canada's cold weather and low population density as contributing factors to its top rating.
It also came in first place in accordance with health measures, transportation, and no violent crimes. It was also rated as the safest location for women, LGBTQIA+ individuals, and BIPOC individuals.
The data from a survey of 1,702 travelers, and the State Department's travel safety ratings, information from the Global Peace Index, the average GeoSure Global scores of each nation's major cities was taken for the 2024 list of top countries to travel to.

According to the company's 2024 rankings, it's now a place where people of all backgrounds may travel around freely without facing harassment or discrimination.
Gap Year Travel Store, stated that Canada is one of the safest locations to travel to. There is a low rate of gun-related crime and relatively little violent crime.
Switzerland rose from ninth place in 2023 to second place in 2024 followed by Canada. This increase in score was due to overall safety and low crime rate in the nation. Norway secured the third place, followed by Ireland in fourth place, Netherlands secured the fifth position.
