Highlights of issuing Canada PR visas through SUV in 2022

• Canada welcomed 420 new PRs in the first eight months of 2022 through the Start-Up visa
• In August 2022, 50 more entrepreneurs were welcomed as permanent residents
• SUV can welcome a total of 630 permanent residents this year
• British Columbia invited 190 while Ontario invited 185 permanent residents till August 2022

SUV issued three times more invitations for Canada PR in 2022

Immigrant entrepreneurs have set up their businesses in Canada through the Canada Start-Up visa. This number is three times more than in 2021. From January to August 2022, the number of permanent residents welcomed through the Canada SUV was 420. This number is much more in comparison to the same period in 2021 when 145 permanent residents were welcomed.

Welcoming PRs through SUV increased by 13.5 percent from pre-pandemic levels

By the end of August 2022, Canada invited 50 more entrepreneurs in comparison to August 2019. Less permanent residents are welcomed to Canada through SUV in comparison to other programs like:

• Federal Skilled Worker (FSW)
• Federal Skilled Trade (FST)
• Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP)
• Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP)
• Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot (RNIP)

Monthly fluctuations are more due to the smaller number of invitations through the SUV.

The number of entrepreneurs invited to Canada in the first seven months of 2022 is given in the table below:

The average invitations through this program are 52.5 percent and at this current rate, 630 permanent residents can be invited by the end of 2022 through the Start-Up visa program. The two provinces that are more benefitted through the SUV program are British Columbia and Ontario.
