Canada has an expenditure plan of $1.6 billion over a period of six years. The plan includes an expenditure of $315 million each year for the processing of applications and settlement of new immigrants who will receive a Canada PR visa.
The Fall Economic Statement of the government has also allocated $50 million for 2022 and 2023 to tackle the issues of backlog of application processing.
Sean Fraser announced the latest Immigration Levels Plan 2023-2025 in which around 1.5 million new immigrants will be invited. The annual levels by 2025 will go up to 500,000 immigrants. The Fall Economic Statement has been developed to make an economy that will benefit everyone as it will create more jobs and a better and affordable life for Canadians.
Chrystia Freeland stated that immigration in the next three years will help in tackling the issue of shortage of workers in the sectors like healthcare and manufacturing. Sean Fraser announced that 301,250 new immigrants will belong to the Economic class.
