As per Canada’s Labor Force Survey statistics, Canada's economy was a little closer to the pre-pandemic levels in July.
The survey was held from July 11 to 17, and this week, the public restrictions were eased because of low case counts and the high number of vaccination counts.
https://youtu.be/6WN8vsD3zc4In order to recover from pandemic losses, Canada added 94,000 jobs in July. It concentrated more on full-time opportunities and the private sector in service industries. This has led to the fall in unemployment to 7.5 percent, similar to the rate in March.
While the employment rate was increased in provinces like Ontario, Manitoba, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island in Canada.
Recent immigrants employment rate continued to rise
As per the statistics from the Canadian government, recent immigrants have an upward trend throughout the pandemic. Because the number of immigrants has fallen compared to their employment rate.
In July, the employment rate was taken a rise up to 69.1 percent, an increase of one percent from June.
The employment rate was 58.1 percent for immigrants who have been in Canada for more than five years. This is a fraction less when compared to the percentage in June. The number of very recent immigrants in the labor force has blown up from 612,000 in 2016 to 751,000 in 2019. The growth was stalled in 2020 because of border entry restrictions due to pandemics.
While in 2021, the number of immigrants taking part in the labor needs has returned to 2019 levels. This made up to four percent of the total labor force between January and July.
Immigration in Canada often answers the demographic challenges in Canada. Because Canada has an aging population with a low birth rate, these elements lead to the shrinking of the labor force because there is no natural growth to make up for the losses.
With the implementation of immigration and other strategies, Canada is supporting the labor market to meet its demands.
In June, travel restrictions were not eased, but it allowed approved permanent residents. During that period, Canada welcomed 35,700 new permanent residents, which is the highest during the pandemic. The statistics about new immigrants are not yet released.
